If the UK leaves the EU with an agreement, what you will need to enter the UK will not change until 2021.

Find out if you need to apply for a visa to enter the UK.

If the UK leaves the EU without an agreement
If you are an Irish citizen, you can enter the UK without a visa, as you can now. You will be able to work or study while you are here.

You can enter the UK without a visa if you are a citizen of another EU or EEA country, or Switzerland. You will be able to work or study while you are here.

The government proposes to end the free movement, but it still has to be approved by Parliament. Once free movement is over, if you are a citizen of another EU or EEA country, or Switzerland, you will still be able to enter the UK without a visa, but only for a maximum period of 3 month. Come back here for updates and find out what you need to do to come to the UK over 3 months.

In other cases, determine if you need to apply for a visa to enter the UK.

What you need to show on the British border
What you have to show at the British border will not change, even if the UK leaves the EU without agreement.

You must present a valid passport or national identity card if you are a citizen of:

an EU country
Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland
You can use automatic ePassport barriers in some airports if your passport contains a "chip" and you are 12 years old or older. The use of electronic passport doors is usually faster.

If you are not a citizen of one of these countries, you will need to present a valid passport.

You can still enter the UK using a passport that expires in less than 6 months.

Find out how to pass border controls as quickly as possible.

School Travelers Entering the UK
Schoolchildren from third countries residing in EU or EFTA countries will continue to be able to travel to the United Kingdom under the List of Travelers visa system. They do not need to obtain their own travel document or visa before December 31, 2020.

This applies if the UK leaves the EU with an agreement and if the UK leaves the EU without agreement.

What you have to show at the border will not change. Students who do not have their own travel document must have photo ID or a recent photo attached to the Traveler List Form. The form must also be authenticated by the responsible authority of the Member State concerned to confirm the student's residence status and the right to return to be accepted as a travel document.

If your country is not a member, your vehicle will need UK vehicle insurance.
